Missing // antelope's head erased, attired, bearded and pierced through neck with arrow; COX (E)XON. around // missing // missing

Probably a clothier's seal from Exeter. Specialist information required please.

This seal is firm evidence of the cloth trade between Portugal and Exeter. Probably 18th-19th century.

"1784 - Mar 31: Samuel Cox of Holy Trinity parish, Exeter, fuller, apprentice of Joseph Clarke, made freeman of city of Exeter.
1803 - Exeter Militia List: Samuel Cox, fuller, of St. Mary Steps parish, Exeter.
1818 - Jun 20: General Election for two representatives in Parliament for Exeter - Samuel Cox, fuller, voted for Courtenay and Northmore [Courtenay and Newman were elected]."
