Identified by Jan van Oostveen.
A seal for cloth and knitwear.
From Paul Cannon, "Based on a better preserved example of this seal I believe it would read on the German side ‘TUCH UND TRICOT FABRIK C.A.MOES CHOROSZCZ’ and the Cyrillic side ‘ФАБРИКА СУКНА И ТРИКОТА К.А. МОЕСЪ ХОРОЩЪ’. Moes’ factory was in the Polish town of Choroszcz, in the north east of Poland. For a detailed discussion of the seal and Christian August Moes see the following Plomba Odcisk Czasu. This includes a link to a video about the factory."
The following information was written by Robert on the above website, "Christian August Moes (1810-72) came to Zgierz in 1829 where he worked at the Baron Zachert Factory. In 1837 he married Constantia Boese, the daughter of a wine merchant from Sieradz and thanks to his wife's dowry, in 1838 he founded the wool factory "Bracia Moes" in Zgierz. He moved to Choroszcz near Białystok in 1840, where he built several production halls in the grounds of the former residence of hetman Branicki in 1842-47. The factory quickly became the largest textile company in this area. He died in 1872 in Pilica. He was buried in accordance with his last wish at the Evangelical cemetery in Choroszcz. successors and the next owners were the son (Carl August) and the eldest grandson, both with the same initials as the factory founder. That is why it is difficult to determine exactly from which period of the company's activity the seals come from. Therefore, they should be dated from 1847-1915. I recommend an interesting film by Martyna Kondraciuk "Manufacturer - Christian August Moes 1810-1872" introducing the figure of this great manufacturer but also a good and honest man who organized a sickness fund for workers, provided them with medical care, built a hospital and a housing estate. The seals shown have been imprinted with different stones, have the same diameter, the upper weighs 20 and the lower 30 grams."
From Ged Dodd, "it should read ‘TUCH UND TRICOT FABRIK / C.A.MOES CHOROSZCZ’ - CLOTH AND FINE KNITWEAR FACTORY / C.A.MOES / CHOROSZCZ
and the Cyrillic side ‘ФАБРИКА СУКНА И ТРИКОТА К.А. МОЕСЪ ХОРОЩЪ’- FACTORY for SUKNA AND TRIKOTA / K.A. MOES / KHOROSHCH'"
