This monogram ties this seal to the period of Mary II's reign, 1689-1694. Monograms from previous monarch's reigns are known on cloth seals from succeeding reigns but they occur on the rivet and rove discs stamped by the alnagers 'in the field'. Inner discs were either cast or pre-stamped.

4 1/2 refers to subsidy of 4 1/2d.
