There is a famous building complex in Leiden known as De Meelfabriek, "an industrial complex of thirteen buildings on the corner of Oosterkerkstraat and Zijlsingel in the Dutch city of Leiden. Until 1988 the site was NV Meelfabrieken 'De Sleutels' v / h De Koster & CO. established. This flour factory was one of the largest in the Netherlands in the period after the Second World War. ... The origins of the flour mill are linked to two people. The first is Adriaan Koole, owner of De Oranjeboom flour mill, who acquired the site in 1883, a former bastion on the east side of the center of Leiden. In 1884 he entered into a partnership with Arie de Koster Sr., a trader in grains, seeds and flour. Together they set up an extremely modern factory for that time. Koole died in 1886, after which the factory continued under the name 'De Koster'.
In 1928 the flour factory underwent another name change: "NV Meelfabrieken 'De Sleutels', v / h De Koster & CO." (in short: "The Keys"). Between 1928 and 1947, a mill building, a flour warehouse, a cleaning shop, two new silo buildings, a service house and an office laboratory were built. After the Second World War, De Sleutels went through a period of great prosperity under the leadership of the later politician Hans de Koster. In the late 1950s, the factory met the flour requirements of an estimated 20 percent of the Dutch population."
But there is no mention of P.H. Hendriks in connection to this particular steam flour mill.
