Cloth Seal, Cloth Worker's Personal Seal, Privy Mark, GO, 1500~1800, Image & Found by Carlos Vasques.
Found in Portugal, 27mm, 14.9g.
146 / 262 (scratched) // privy mark based on 4 with scroll base and G (O?) to sides
A typical cloth worker's personal seal almost complete except for part of the connecting strip. The numbers are thought to be connected to the dimensions of the cloth.
Tentative dating of late eighteenth century to early nineteenth is based on style - see No.213, Fig.30, Geoff Egan, 'Lead cloth seals and related items in the B.M. (B.M. Occasional Paper 93)' - "Clothiers', weavers' & searchers' seals with privy marks etc."
The English cloth trade with Portugal extends back into Medieval times.
