Russian Archangel Bale Seal, Image & Found by Cliff.
Found in Hampshire.
An Archangel flax or hemp bale seal - 1877.
First side:-
First line - АРХ rest missing = ARkh = Archangel
Second line - КВОНЪ = KRON = High-quality flax; Crown = contents of the bale
Third line - 4 COPTЪ = 4 SORTB = 4th Grade
Fourth line - Ф.Р. = F.R. = initials of the owner or producer
Fifth line - 1877 = year when grading took place.
Second Side:-
First line - missing but probably an abbreviation of Archangel Port in Cyrillic
Second line - АЕСЯТH. = DESYATN. = Desyatnik = rank of quality control officer
Third & Fourth line - АЛЕKСАНДР(A) // ИДЛАГИНОВ the Christian and surname of the quality control officer, ALyeKSANDRA IDLAGINOV ? (Unfortunately not one of the known officers in the appendices of the book below. But see identification by Ged Dodd below)
