Cloth Seal, Elizabeth I, Portcullis, Image & Found by Paulsamfreya.
Found south of Bath in north Somerset and is 14mm diameter.
Crowned portcullis with R to one side and inscription around of which only OS remains.
Very likely Elizabethan alnage seal - the portcullis was very popular with the Tudors and there's probably an E missing from the other side to give Elizabeth Regina. The following entry for 7/4/1563 can be found in Journal of the House of Commons: volume 1: 1547-1629 "The Bill, that the Aulneager of Lancaster shall seal the Cloths there made with the Portcullis in Lead. - Jud'm." Showing the use of the portcullis on cloth seals to be a legal requirement in Elizabeth's time.
