Roman Lead Seal, ALVO

Roman Lead Seal, ALVO, Image & Found by Derfel.
Found on the Thames Foreshore, 15 x 10mm.

"I think this is a Roman one. I can make out ALVO ?? NSTA letters in the middle I cannot make out, I have shown it to a few people they think Constantine or one of his sons. A bust on the other side looks like a 4thC emperor ... I will also pass it onto PAS and update you on their findings in 3 months."

See PAS LON-324687 - "An incomplete Roman lead alloy seal dating to the early 4th century AD. The obverse depicts a laureate bust facing right. The central image is surrounded by a circlular beaded border. The reverse depicts a central image or inscription surrounded by an inscription around the edge, the central motif is illegible. The inscription reads CONSTAN[---]ALVO, the seal is from the house of Constantine dating it to the early 4th century (AD 306-363). The seal is broken roughly in half, so not all of the inscription or images are visible. There is a channel running through the midline of the seal for the cord to pass through and be secured."
