Russian Bale Seal, Baltic States, Hemp, SPB, 1733, Rein Hemp, Image & Found by Jochim Weise.
Found near Lubeck, Germany, ?mm.
A very early Russian Rein hemp bale seal.
ID by Ged Dodd, "Obverse:- ЧИСТА / R is CLEAN R (Rein Hemp)
Reverse:- (crown) / No 1 / 1733 /SPB
literally No 1 SORT CROWN GRADE HEMP bracked in 1733.
Could have been shipped from the port of St Petersburg, Kronstadt, Narva, Riga, Libau, Memel, Konigsberg, Pilau, Pernau, Revel or Tilsit ..in the year 1733 . because all of these ports used SPB for their hemp seals before the year 1829 as a certification of the hemp bracking (inspection) by the Russian Empire.. SPB does not mean this seal was shipped from the St Petersburg (but in this case it probably was).
