WAGRISCHE MÜHLE / MASSMANN / HEILIGENHAFEN // arms of Heiligenhafen
Identified by Steen Agersø, "A flour bag seal: Heiligenhafen, Schleswig-Holstein (East Holstein), North Germany."
From Philippe Lanez, "... The town hall was built by the farmer, merchant, shipowner and senator Johann Peter Maßmann between 1880 and 1882. The location on the market square alone showed that the family was rich and influential. Johann Peter was the second-born son of the Maßmann family, whose family tree in Heiligenhafen can be traced back to 1714.
After the economic decline and the death of the senator in 1922, the city of Heiligenhafen bought the Maßmann family home four years later under Mayor Ernst Schurbohm for 40,000 gold marks and converted it into an official building. In addition to the city administration, the district court and the police were also housed here."
