Das Unternehmen Carl Hirschberg in Itzehoe 1842-1950 - The company Carl Hirschberg in Itzehoe 1842-1950 is discussed on p.4 of Society for Folklore in Schleswig-Holstein e. V., "Johann Daniel Carl Hirschberg and the beginnings of his soap-making business:- He was the second of three sons in Güstrow (Mecklenburg) on November 27, 1815 of a wealthy co-master and elder man born Johann Daniel Carl Hirschberg (nickname Carl) learned four years the "action and soap boiling" in Malchin. He then worked there for a year and a half, before moving to Hamburg in 1838 where he found employment as a soap boiler for a total of four years. … Carl Hirschberg then moved to Krämerstraße in Itzehoe, where he also ran the soap mill. … Carl Hirschberg acquired a property in 1844 in Bekstraße on the Störschleife to increase its operation."
