Identified by Jan van Oostveen, "Schimmel & Co., it is a seal from Schimmel @ Co from the new factory in Militz in the city of Leipzig which was founded in 1901. It was a factory for perfume and pharmaceutical oils."

See also Aromas and essences from Leipzig, "In 1895, Dr. Heinrich Walbaum (1864 - after 1934) began to elucidate the chemical structure of the neroli oil contained in bitter orange blossoms and to synthetically produce the coveted essential oil with the fresh, floral scent. Eleven years later he isolated muscon, the main component of musk. These are only two great moments in the history of the Leipzig company Schimmel & Co., which began in 1829 with the establishment of a trading company for medicinal drugs by the chemist Ernst Ludwig Spahn and the pharmacist Gottlob Eduard Büttner.
After Büttner's departure in 1838, Friedrich Edmund Louis Schimmel became Spahn's new business partner (Spahn & Schimmel). When Spahn also withdrew from the business, Schimmel's brother Eduard Hermann took his place. From then on, the drug store traded as Schimmel & Comp. Little did the two merchants suspect that their successors would make the company and with it their name world-famous."
