Yarde & Co Seal, Image & Found by Doug Turner.
Found in Somerset, 16mm.
Both sides have a continuous raised circle border. Curved around the inside of one is YARDE & Co above Northampton. Inside the other is PRIZE curved around the inside of the top and MEDAL straight across the centre, then more letters curved around the inside of the bottom of which only D can be made out for sure - SEEDS (see below).
From Paul Cannon, "Yarde & Co were seed growers, nurserymen and florists at 16/18 Wellingborough Road and 10 Market Square and Tanner Street in Northampton. Their nurseries were at Duston (Kellys Directory of Northamptonshire1910). For an advertising postcard for 'Yarde's Prize Medal Seeds' dated 1906 see fotolibra. Based on this the uncertain word at the bottom of one face of the seal is no doubt 'SEEDS'."
