Cloth Seal, FOAR, Image & Found by Donnydave.
Found at Stillinfleet Selby, North Yorkshire.
Distinctive cloth seal with the letters F?OAR visible on what is left of the riveted side with possibly the letter Y above with two flowers? suspended from its arms. The other side has the scratched z type markings often seen on cloth seals and sometimes perhaps representing a number 2. There is also the number 45 in raised numerals similar in style to the number 45 1/2 shown on No.263 Fig.34 in Geoff Egan's 'Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum' which is thought to be evidence of an alnager or searcher noting the length or weight of the bale of cloth.
