A seal from the Aschersleben Potash Works. Salzbergwerk means salt mine in German, the name that follows it may well be 'Schmidtmannshall' named after H. Schmidtmann who took over the mine in 1883 see Aktiengesellschaft Kaliwerke Aschersleben, Albert Gieseler, Mannheim, Germany 2009, "1876 Start of test drilling by the London "Continental-Demond-Bork-Baring-Compagnie", similar to the one in Stassfurt, around Aschersleben. The wells are successful.
1882 The first shaft is being built after four and a half years of construction.
01.1883 Start of potash mining; mainly carnallite is mined.
1883 The entrepreneur Schmidtmann, who took over the mine, founds the "Kaliwerke Aschersleben trade union".
1889 Conversion into a stock corporation. - The company is quickly developing into one of the largest German potash companies.
1922 Merger with "Consolidierte Alkaliwerke Westeregeln AG" and "Salzdetfurth AG".
