The arms have a good match with two towns.
Identified by Michel Royer as the arms of Bad Iburg, "a spa town in the district of Osnabrück, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated in the Teutoburg Forest, 16 km south of Osnabrück".
Identified by Jan van Oostveen as the arms of Sömmerda, "a town near Erfurt in Thuringia, Germany, on the Unstrut river. It is the capital of the district of Sömmerda".
No information on the cloth industry in either region has yet been found.
