Instead a new brand was created, Gartons GROplan, and marketed wholesale through agricultural merchants throughout the United Kingdom. Gartons Limited continued as a plant breeding company. Gartons GROplan was sold to Agricultural Holdings Company Limited in 1971. Gartons plc closed down 1983." See picture here
From Goods & Not So Goods by Mike Smith.

An interesting side venture of this company was uncovered at the National Archives, Kew, in file Piece reference BT 31/18886/103495 Company No: 103495; Garton-Cooper Seed Company Ltd. Incorporated in 1909.
The Garton-Cooper Seed Company, Limited registered on 14 June 1909 “To cultivate, grow and breed plants and seeds of every discription … especially of all new breeds of plants and seeds originated by Mr. John Garton of Warrington, Lancashire, suitable for American cultivation, and to sell, dispose of and deal in any such plants and seeds and either by wholesale or retail in the United States of America.”

Letter from Gartons to Somerset House 27/6/1917 Re Garton Cooper Seeds Co - “the above company was formed as a subsidiary one to Gartons Limited of Warrington, Seed Experts and Seed Growers, and was formed to distribute New Breeds of Farm Seeds and Seed Grain in the United States of America, the distributing centre in U.S.A. being 117, West Huron Street, Chicago. Owing however to the restrictions on export of Farm Seeds and Seed Grain, it was quite impossible to carry on the business, and same is now in the course of winding up, business having ceased on 30th of June 1916. The work of winding up would have probably been complete ere this, but owing to practically the whole of our male staff having been called to the Colours, we are badly handicapped, having only a few inexperienced lady clerks to carry on our business.” Final winding-up meeting was held on 25/3/1918.

From 1909 letter head:- "Raisers of New and Improved Breeds of Farm Plants. Experimental grounds: Acton Grange, Cheshire."
