Cloth Seal, Exeter, Crown, PW, Image & Found by James Crombie.
Found in Yorkshire, 32 x 12mm.
Four part alnage seal, P above W with * above 6 above 1 to its right and (1?) above 1 above 2* to its left, EXON upside down around base, all in a beaded border. A crown is shown on the other inner disc.
One of a series of Exeter seals from the alnager PW (or possibly WP). This seems to be the earliest one recorded at 1661 with the usual subsidy of 1 1/2d. *Correction, on further examination it is probably a 4 rather than a 2 and so dating to 1664 in keeping with other examples.
