Danish, State Seed Control Seals, Kobenhaven, Image & Found by Kevin Mud Mammal Dyer.
Found on Thames Foreshore, 19mm.

Crown, STATSFRØKONTROLLEN. around // KØBENHAVN V.

See Euro-Plombs, "Lead seal for seeds from the instution of 'seeds of the government' (STATSFRØKONTROLLEN) in the city of COPENHAGEN (KØBENHAVN). This institution, which was initially privately owned, was founded by the economist E. Møller-Holst in 1871. This institution bore the Danish name of "Markfrøkontro". It was responsible for checking the quality of seeds used in agriculture. In 1891, the government took over this institution and continued the control of seeds under the name of "Statsanstalten". From 1916 to 1989 the institution was called "the seed of Government" (Statsfrøkontrollen) - The institution was composed of a number of departments:
- the Chamber of Purity (sterilization?)
- the Germination Chamber.
- Room of authenticity.
- the plant pathology department.
- The department for certification of cereals.
From the wording on this seal it belongs to the period after 1916 and certainly from the years 1916 to 1945."
