Found near Stockbridge in Hampshire, 15mm.

Missing // crowned rose, G / 4 & R / 1/2 to sides // missing // missing

An inner disc from a four-disc alnage seal of George I. G R must stand for George I as the alnage was ended in England in 1724, three years before the end of his reign (it did continue in Ireland until 1817 but this example is unlikely to have been from there). The 4 1/2 represents the four pence ha'penny alnage subsidy on the cloth.
