Cloth Seal, George I, Alnage, Crown & Crossed Scepters, Privy Mark

Cloth Seal, George I, Alnage, Crown & Crossed Scepters, Privy Mark, Image by Karen Ellis-Andrews, Found by Roy Ellis.
Found on Thames Foreshore, 14mm.

232 scratched // head of George I // crown & crossed scepters 6 to right // 4 heart type privy mark S(D?) incorporated

An opened, 4-disc, alnage seal for 6d subsidy from the reign of George I. The privy mark used by the alnager to stamp the seal closed is interesting but no alnagers with those initials have so far been located from that time period.
