Cloth Seal, Dye Seal, Dyer's One-Part Seal?, Lion

Cloth Seal, Dye Seal, Dyer's One-Part Seal?, Lion, Image & Found by Veronasteve.
Found near Verona, Italy.

Bulla type seal with a walking lion on what could be a shield with scroll work around. The other side is blank with a deep score down it.

Very similar to Dyers one-part (bulla type) seal shown in Fig.37 in Geoff Egans 'Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum' which he categorises as a dyer's one part seals found ‘in some numbers ... from Trig Stairs to London Bridge’. He dates them from the late 16th to 17th centuries.

This has been classed as a Dyer's One-Part Seal purely based on its structure and appearance. It could have many other uses but does appear to match known dye seals closely. It would be interesting to know more about its find spot. Verona has a long history of cloth manufacture.
