Came from around Wetherby / Knaresbough area, 28.7 x 26.3mm, 20.1g.
An Archangel flax or hemp bale seal - 1870.
First side:-
First line - АРХАНГ.ПОР = ARkhANG:POR = Archangel Port
Second line - КPОНЪ = KRON = High-quality flax; Crown = contents of the bale
Third line - (2?) COPTЪ = 2 SORTB = 2nd Grade (could be 4 ?)
Fourth line - Я.Н.В. = Ya.P.V. = initials of the owner or producer
Fifth line - 1870 = year when grading took place.
Second Side:-
First line - missing but probably an abbreviation of Archangel Port in Cyrillic
Second line - АЕСЯТ = DESYAT = Desyatnik = rank of quality control officer
Third & Fourth line - KA???? // HA??? the Christian and surname of the quality control officer.
