Cloth Seal, German, Bad Langensalza (Salza)
Cloth Seal, German, Bad Langensalza (Salza), Image & Found by Kay Marie Walton.
Found in Jutland Denmark, 20mm.
Loom & shuttle // 2 towers, SALZA around
From Michel Royer, "It must be a textile seal lead issued by the town of Bad Langensalza (formerly Salza for short) we find part of the current coat of arms, two towers instead of three currently with the shields below the towers and not attached to the towers (we can clearly see the shield bearing the lion rampant under the first tower), The reverse is most probably the representation of a carding comb (one of the symbols of the drapers of the time). Beautiful lead."
