Cloth Seal, Unused, Blank, Image & Found by London Mudlark.
Found on the Thames foreshore.
An unused two disc cloth seal consisting of a rove disc, with hole at its centre, joined by a connecting strip to the rivet disc with protruding rivet that would pass through the cloth and then through the hole in the rove disc and be bent over or simply flattened usually with the use of a cloth worker's stamp and hammer.
Note the lip around the edges of the discs and the hole on the side that will face the cloth. Much the same design was used from the fourteenth century to the the nineteenth.
