Found in Wymeswold Parish, Leicestershire, 16mm.
With the help of other similar seals:-
A French sugar bag seal. One side has SUCRES in an oblong block on ornate scroll work with a semi circular peletted border. The other side has the number 10? in the centre a solid circle around that and between this and a pelleted outer circle is REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE.
From Philippe Lanez. "interwoven 'C & I', is for "CONTRIBUTIONS INDIRECTES" indirect taxes on French manufactured sugar. It was valued at 7,035,000 francs in 1843 budget and rose to 8,470,000 the following year. ... these seals are after 1848"
