Cloth Seal, Norwich, Castle, Image & Found by Derfel. Found on the Thames foreshore, 18 x 15mm. Castle, lion rampant beneath // escallop / ?C.R? / ?(I?)?C A two part Norwich seal. If it is an escallop then it is thought to be the privy mark of a die engraver who was active c. 1628 to c. 1640 and apart from on other seals his mark can also be found on communion cups [Cripps, W.J., 1967].
