"My wife found this yesterday while metal detecting. It's made out of lead. It's about 1 5/8" in diameter, it is convex in shape and about 3/8" thick in the middle. There appears to be a place on top where two wires came out. There appears to be some rust in this area so I'm assuming they were steel wires. There is also a small hole at the bottom. Found in northern Illinois, USA."

The writer later discovered it was the pendulum bob from an American-made Elias Ingraham clock. See picture of a complete one here.
