MCP, Mann, Crossman & Paulin Ltd Seal

MCP, Mann, Crossman & Paulin Ltd Seal, Image & Found by William Robertson
Found in North Lincolnshire, 18mm.

Mounted horseman spearing a dragon // M. (C. P.)

A bag seal showing the distinctive George & the dragon emblem. No product company or organisation has yet been connected to this seal with certainty, however the trade mark of Marstons PLC is an excellent match.

Thanks to Paul Cannon for directing my attention to UKDFD : 20794 which shows the letters to be M.C.P.

From Paul Cannon, "I wonder if this stands for Mann, Crossman & Paulin Ltd? The St George slaying the dragon logo was used by this company at the Albion Brewery, Whitechapel, London see The Brewery History Society. For a group of beer bottle labels containing the name and logo see
The Labologist's Society, International Society of Label Collectors & British Brewery Research
.
If this is the correct id of the seals, I wonder if they were attached to barrels of beer?"
