Fishmongers Company, British Columbia Seal

Fishmongers Company, British Columbia Seal, Image by StuE, Found by Mary Col Club.
Found in East Anglia, 20mm, 6.3g.

B.COLUMBIA.V, 3 secondary stamps (12, 04, undecipherable) // two arms erect supporting a crown

Probably from fish caught off British Columbia in Canada. The crest from the arms of the Fishmongers Company consists of two arms supporting an imperial crown.

Paul Cannon has located another example of this seal on Euro-Plombs, Paul says, "Here is another seal of this type with the crest of the arms of the Fishmonger’s Company see UKDFD 14339 This seal has the name Siberia upon it, adding to examples known for B[ritish] Colombia and Canada. They were presumably attached to catches of fish which had come from the waters of these northern areas. Europlombs has suggested a way of interpreting the numerals on its seals as being a specific date. The upper two boxes contain the day of the month and the number of the month. The box below the name contains the year. This seems to work with all the known examples."
