Cloth Seal, Colchester Dutch Community Seal?*, Crown Bay, 1571 onward
Cloth Seal, Three Crowns, Image & Found by James Crombie.
Found in Yorkshire, 40 x 33mm.
Large two disc cloth seal (one smaller than the other) showing three crowns one above the other reducing in size with ?(5?) 7? to sides. The larger disc has 3354 / horizontal line / 38 scratched into it.
The crown bay attribution is tentative as the the three coronets from the arms of Colchester are normally displayed two above one and in a shield. The number 7 might be from the date 1571 that is often found on Colchester Dutch Community seals, standing for its founding date.
