"A Thomas Nelson Driffield of Brafferton manor, North Yorkshire, is listed as a farmer and seedsman in Bulmer's Directory of 1890."
"NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership which has for some time past been carried on by Thomas Henry Banks Driffield, Percy Thomas Nelson Driffield and Thomas Frank Driffield under the style of THOS. N. DRIFFIELD & SONS at Brafferton Helperby in the county of York in the trade or business of Seed Growers and Merchants was dissolved by mutual consent on the 3ist day of December 1943. All debts due to or owing by the said firm will be received and paid respectively by the said Percy Thomas Nelson Driffield who will continue to carry on the said business under the present style of Thos.
