A Norwich cloth seal with the letters in a well known style:- NO / RWI / CH on one side and the other side shows the surname initial of the 12 wardens of Norwich & Norfolk for 1687, HP / LBB? / - / -.
It is possible to identify the missing letters from the Norwich Mayor's Court Book held at the Norfolk Record office under reference: NCR Case 16a/24,(fol. 216v). With the help of a transcription found in Appendix 6a, Provenanced Leaden Seals, Geoffrey Egan, Department of Medieval Archaeology, University College,University of London, 1987, for that year, 1687, the Norwich wardens were -
John Hall, Tho Pindar, Jo Lawes, Tho Bell, Nich Beckett, Gabriel Buttrie, John Newbeggin, Sam Copeman, Robt Curby, Jacob Webster, John Lawrence and John Bircham.
