Found southside of Thames near the Oxo tower, 15mm.
Partial imprint, mostly blank // crowned double-headed eagle displayed, secondary Z stamp to left
Double rivet, two-disc cloth seal. Unfortunately one of the rivet stubs has folded up obscuring part of the wing and Z stamp.
Several Continental regions have double-headed eagles in their arms. The crown is over the heads of the eagle rather than ducally gorged as in the standard Salisbury arms but there is no evidence of items in the claws which you usually get with the Holy Roman/Austrian and Russian eagles.The crown rules out Naarden and Lübeck (but see p.28, No.6, Abb.23, Ansorge,J., 2009, Die Ausgrabungen fur das Stralsunder OZEANEUM - Einblicke in den Haf eneiner Hansestadt). It could be Nijmegen or Bolsward. Then there is Deventer which is often shown with two heads on cloth seals, Groningen, Kempten, and Mansfield
