Cloth Seal, Leeds, Clothier's Seal, Clothier's Seal, P&I, Image & Found by Nigel Nicholson.
Found near Maidstone, Kent, 39 x 34 x 3mm, 15.8g.
A two part seal with ornate scrolled letters on one side, probably P & I and LEEDS curving upwards along the bottom. The other side has many scratched marks on it including the number 327(6?) and beneath a horizontal line 36(small 2).
These numbers are common on cloth seals i.e. a very large first number (probably an order number) and the second in or near the 30s with a fraction at the end e.g. 3/2 for this one (very faint 3 possibly over the 2), likely to be the length in yards.
No person or company has so far been traced for this one.
