Cloth Seal, German, Hamburg, Castle, Image & Found by John Kristensen.
Found in Denmark, Byrum Læsø.
One side shows three towers over battlements which is the main feature of the arms of Hamburg. The other side is largely missing, possibly traces of a number in a box.
A very similar seal can be seen here with the text kindly translated by Danzigman:-
"An unusually well-preserved Cloth seal of lead from the Late Middle Ages or late Renaissance. The motif on one plaque shows three towers over a wall with a gate, and on the other plaque is seen in two rows of letters AMBU and GER. These features indicate that Cloth seal from Hamburg, and the subject has undoubtedly accompanied some very fine cloth on his way to Denmark."
