Cloth Seal, LEY DEN Seal, Image & Found by Lars Birch Kristensen.
Found near Viborg in central Denmark, 45mm.
Design missing from centre on both sides and the Lombardic inscription looks to be repeated twice on either side - LEY cross of five pellets DEN with A* (R?) with an annulet between two pellets above and below each to the sides of the missing central design. *possibly E R on the reverse.
Thought to have had the crossed keys of Leiden in the middle with inscription being an old spelling of Leiden. Thought to be dated late 14th-15th century.
Parallels of this seal, one complete with the crossed keys at the centre, are currently (2014) on display in the Museum of London, medieval section.
