Hungarian, Gesellschaft, Flour Bag Seal, Image by StuE, Found by Grant.
Found in Scotland, 18mm,5.9g.
Inscription on first side is largely illegible apart from GESELLSCHAFT curving upwards. Other side shows a large number 4.
Gesellschaft is a German term for a society or association. Other examples have been found (see Elisabeth Flour Mill Seal) of 'steam mill societies/associations' with strong German connections that milled flour in the suburbs of Budapest.
The number 4 refers to the grade of flour - it is the first of this number recorded, normally it is 00, 0, 1, and 8.
