Arms of Stuart Britain, inscription around // Arms of London
A London alnage seal probably from the reign of James I or Charles I.
The arms of Stuart Britain run from 1603 to 1707 but with a break from 1649 to 1660 for the Interregnum and another from 1689 to 1702 for Mary II and William III. This seal being of the two disc variety is probably from the first period, James I & Charles I.
The arms of London have a sword erect in the first quadrant. On this seal it appears to be upside down on an ornate shield but as it is residual on the rivet stub it may just be the result of having the rove disc torn off.
