Russian Bale Seal, Baltic States, Flax, SPB, 1838, Image & Found by P0k3Rman.
Found just outside Arbroath in the County of Angus in North East Scotland, 21mm x 19mm.
A Russian flax bale quality control seal.
First side:-
First line:- ЛД = LD = Flax Inspection (L'nyannoy Dosmotr)
Second & Third lines:- ИМ:ЕР(E?) = IM:ER(E?)
МЕЕВ(Ь?) = MEEV(softens preceding consonant) - (initials & surname of Quality Control Officer, - I.M. Eremeev - Seal from 1830's with same name is recorded in the Dundee Museum ref. DUN:AHH.2005-16.09)*
Fourth line:- H41(3?) = N41(3?) = the number of the post the QA Officer worked at.*
Second side:-
First line:- (С)ПБ = (S)PB = St. Petersburg
Second line:- НоП.2. = Indicates the quality and type of goods but uncertain what initials stood for.*
Third line:- M.K.
Fourth line:- 1838 = Date of grading
