From Paul cannon, "A Richard Beazer, clothier is recorded in a marriage allegation for his son, Stephen Beazer to Charlotte Bailey, which is dated 19 December 1839. The groom was resident in the Parish of Castlecombe, Wiltshire and is described as a widower gentleman. The couple were married at Walcot, Somerset [info from Ancestry.com]. A Stephen Beazer was baptised the son of Richard and Anne Beazer at Yatton Keynell, Wiltshire, 3 August 1783. The marriage of Richard Beazer to Ann Gay also took place at Yatton Keynall 19 June 1781. Yatton Keynell is situated 4 miles to NW of Chippenham. Castle Combe is approx. 1 mile from Yatton Keynell. This may suggest that all these references are to the same Richard Beazer. There is nothing however to prove that he was the cloth searcher of this name. As a clothier he would have had the skills and knowledge to act as one.
A recently discovered searcher’s seal has many similarities to this see PAS SUR-43C09D. They have the same style of numerals; horizontal lines after the numerals and circular designs where the two parts of the seal join. It is possible that this type is coming from Wiltshire."
