Cloth Seal, Londini
Cloth Seal, Londini, Image & Held by Maxim Mordovin.
Found near Páka, Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary, 24mm.
Counting mark, (two bisected lines and two dots) // privy mark on ornate shield
The counting mark signifies 20 2/4 yds*. See BSG.CS.01028 for more examples and further explanation of this system.
*if English as indicated by Londini but I believe counting marks are Continental - may have been added after export with local units of length used.
The privy mark looks to be of the early type (pre 17th century).
The term Londino was used on most 'Angel, Gloria in Excelsis' seals, and Londini on London cloth seals naming wool.
