BSG.BS.00283 — U.S.A. Customs Seal, Meat Inspector Seal

Found in the Colchester Region, 17mm longest dimension, 4.1g.

A tab shaped seal that looks to have been circular originally. Both sides have the remains of what looks to have been a continuous raised circle border. On one side there is a US ligature presumably representing the United States of America and on the other is the word MEAT straight across the top and INSPECTOR ? curved at the bottom. There may be a design between these words but the area has been obliterated by rust stains which also occur in several other places suggesting it was attached with wire.
