Right hand face reads MACC[LESFIEL]D around a crown with small star at base of crown. Dennis & Co of Liverpool and Widnes were copper smelters and manufacturers of a patent copper sulphate, including high purity grades such as Macclesfield Crown Sulphate of Copper. These were supplied for industrial and agricultural uses, copper sulphate being a key fertiliser ingredient see Grace's Guide To British Industrial History In the above ‘plomb-de-scellé’ Facebook group there are many examples of a simpler seal, only marked ‘Macclesfield – Bordeaux’.
