BSG.CS.01193 — Cloth Seal, German, Burg (near Magdeburg)?, Castle, Fleur-de-lis

Found on Lofoten Islands, Norway, 26mm.

Castle ?W to right // missing, fleur-de-lis on rivet stub

Not yet identified. The fleur-de-lis does not appear to have any definite stamens therefore probably from France or the Low Countries. Very distinctive castle. Tournai is a possibility.

Jan den Das reports that several of these seals have been found in the Netherlands and some have BORCH inscription around the fleur-de-lis.

Steen Agersø suggests it might be Burg (near Magdeburg). This is the most probable suggestion. It would be good to have this confirmed by someone with local knowledge.
