From Michael Patrick, "This is a delightful Cloth Seal used by a previously unknown (to me) Exeter Merchant, probably George Christopher Degen and Son. I have found him in a Wharfinger's book sending small numbers of bales of cloth to Holland in the years 1792-3. To Amsterdam by the "Post van Topsham" (Capt. Jeroen Vlieland) and to Amsterdam by the Jacomina (Capt. Thomas Bodeman). Peter Maunder advises that the number 64½ would indicate that the cloth is a druggett. Druggets were shipped in large quantities to Spain and Italy from Exeter."

And it would now appear druggets were shipped to America also.
