From Mike Patrick, "The Fichaux mill -
The immense industrial store located in the Lower Town, at the corner of the streets of La Verrerie and Saint-Charles, is the last vestige of the Civil Handling Area of Dunkirk, an imposing agri-food factory that turned wheat into industrial bread or sea-biscuits for the needs of the navy. Founded in 1856 by two Dunkirk merchants, Louis Adolphe Fichaux and Daniel Garin, with the financial support of Gaspard Malo, this industrial complex was completely destroyed during the Second World War, except for the industrial store which was transformed in the 1950s into a textile factory for the needs of Saint-Frères establishments whose sign can still be seen on one side of the building."
